About me

Evis Heath is a 2nd generation Gumbaynggirr/Birrpai artist from Newcastle, Australia. He has dedicated his life to creating art that expresses his soul's dreaming path, drawing inspiration from his dreaming stories, nature, its life and colours, and his life experiences.

Heath was born in Newcastle and grew up surrounded by Aboriginal culture and Dreaming stories. From a young age, he was fascinated by the beauty of nature and the way it interacted with the land. This connection to the land and culture is a major inspiration for his artwork.

Heath began his artistic career walking with the footsteps of two of his uncles and well know Koori artists, Richard Campbell and Mini Heath.

Learning the techniques and skills necessary to create beautiful and meaningful works of art. He then went on to develop his own unique style, which combines traditional Aboriginal symbols and designs with more contemporary elements.

As he was studying graphic design at Newcastle University, he tuned in and developed more skills to help create artwork, that honours his elders and brings attention to issues of importance to his people.

Heath's artwork often features vibrant colours and bold shapes, soft in brush stroke, reflecting the chaos, yet beauty, with his connection to the land and his people.

Heath is an active member of his community both through his artwork and has led many successful community projects, events and initiatives all under the name of 'HEATH & WELL-BEING', namely.

“The Awabakal Dreaming Stories”- Multimedia Kits, The erection of “Muloobinba”- Newcastle to Stockton sculpture and many School Creative projects to name a few.

His dreamIN path, is to honor and tread lightly in the footprints of his ancestors, with love and gratitude, to create freedom of he's soul's expression through life and pathe pathways for future generations as a proud 'Original man.
